Vietnam Dialogue – Vietnam Capital Symposium: Strengthening Vietnam-Germany Cooperation

On November 19, 2024, the inaugural Vietnam Dialogue – Vietnam Capital Symposium took place in Frankfurt, Germany, attracting participation from financial institutions, businesses, and government agencies from Vietnam and Germany. This event marked an important milestone in promoting economic and financial cooperation between the two countries, particularly in finance, green economy, and high-tech industries.
In his opening remarks, Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Mr. Ho Duc Phoc, delivered a welcoming message:
“Vietnam is committed to creating all favorable conditions with consistent policies to attract foreign investment, promote the development of the digital economy, green economy, and artificial intelligence.”
This message not only underscored Vietnam’s determination to grow but also expressed gratitude and respect for international partners.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany, Mr. Vu Quang Minh, expressed his hopes that the Vietnam Dialogue would not only facilitate economic collaboration but also enable Vietnam to maximize its international potential and resources. Echoing this sentiment, Dr. Karsten Stroborn from Germany’s Central Bank emphasized the event’s importance as a bridge for effectively leveraging trade and investment opportunities, especially in the rapidly changing global economic landscape.
Key Highlights of the Symposium
Green Credit: Representatives from the State Bank of Vietnam shared the impressive growth of green credit in Vietnam, which has exceeded 22% annually, reaching a total value of 650 trillion VND. This demonstrates a strong shift of capital towards environmentally friendly projects, contributing to sustainable development.
Fair Energy Transition: Professor Veronica Grimm from Germany’s Council of Economic Advisors discussed the potential for collaboration between the two countries in applying advanced technologies to reduce emissions and promote sustainable energy transitions. She highlighted that this is not just a cooperative opportunity but also a crucial strategy to achieve long-term development goals.
Success Stories: Speakers highlighted Vietnam’s dynamic growth, especially in the fintech sector. Companies like VNPAY and CMC impressed attendees with their innovative initiatives and success stories, showcasing Vietnam’s pioneering role in the region.

Vietnam Dialogue is not only a platform for businesses and investors to meet but also a space to discuss and seek solutions for common challenges. The event has opened up opportunities for long-term collaboration, elevating Vietnam-Germany relations to new heights.
Ambassador Vu Quang Minh emphasized that, following the success of the first dialogue, the event should become an annual occurrence. Notably, 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Germany. Vietnam Dialogue is expected to continue being a crucial connector, enabling the business communities of both countries to grow sustainably and more effectively together.
